  1. Yeah, never used to be like that. Grew up in an East Coast city. Worked in a 7-11 in high school and a tourist area after high school. We were always friendly with the cops. People were pretty low key back then (1990s).

  2. People don't realize that back in the '80-90s that NYC had 2000ish murders per year and 100K robberies. 200K! burglaries. 500K! thefts 150K! car thefts. Make American Great Again back to the 1980s?!?

  3. Adding 2019 data... Murders: 500 range, Robberies 20K range, burglaries 30K range, thefts 200K range, car thefts 13K range. Everything is down by several factors.

  4.  @GodsOwnPrototype77  More recent history of West coast is even less bothered. Even though, I've gotten pulled over (for reasonable things) and got ticketed peeing on a wall when drunk, oopps. And, more making sure we didn't get caught with drugs, lol.

  5.  @sevenandthelittlestmew  Yeah, looks like we all have different experiences. Mine have been generally positive, so my baseline is on the positive side. Obviously, I'm not blind / deaf and see the news and how corrupt they can be.
