The Afghanistan quagmire cost $2.3 trillion and counting. And, they hated us and didn't want us there. The least we can do is to support a fledging democracy that has been invaded by a thug. I hope Ukraine can rebound like Korea after the war in the 1950s. It took many decades, but Korea ended up in a good place.

@wondertyzipp8260 I'm ethnically Korean. Yeah, I think my life in the US (and my relatives lives in South Korea) is a "bit" better than living under the North Korean regime. Fun fact: South Koreans are taller and have a longer life span than North Koreans.

@wondertyzipp8260 Korea's GDP in 1960 was $2B. Lower than Israel, Thailand, Philippines, Bangladesh. You name it and nearly everyone had a higher GDP. Korea was dirt poor. It's now the 12th largest GDP. It's literally the best economic success story in the past 50 years.

@wondertyzipp8260 There are no minorities in Korea. It's one of the most homogenous societies on planet Earth. The amount of ROK citizens that would be considered minorities is 0.01%. Seems to be odd to making your whole argument on 0.01% of a society. There are many valid arguments about the negative dark sides of Korean society. This isn't one of them.

@wondertyzipp8260 JFC dude. It's like you know a few bits of information about Korea as an outsider and think you are an expert. Korean people protest about everything.

@aban2423 F-ck off. This ain't about Syria. This is about Ukraine funding by the US taxpayer. Go to another thread and make noise.

@wondertyzipp8260 You are literally doing what authoritarian regimes do when talking about the US. Expanding the negatives and making a judgement about society. US is a drug infested, crime riddled, gun crazy society eh? Korea is a liberal democracy. Maybe they don't suit your taste, but heck. People had to worry about putting food on the table until the 1980s and not getting murdered by the military / dictatorship. You are talking about first world problems that take generations to sort out. Sorry, not everyone is on your timeline.

@OmegaFares Dude - you don't realize how shitty Korea was back in the 50-90s. My grandparents lived through and survived the Korean war. They are tough hard people. They all lived to their late 80s-90s. (They were born during the Japanese occupation.) I see some of the same toughness in the Ukrainian people as my grandparents.

@OmegaFares Because this is about the American taxpayer. The right never balked about financing 2 shitty wars and now they are playing political games when it's a fraction of the Afghanistan war.
