"I think the competitive edge of the Korean cinema lies in its freedom. I highly think of their broad range of subjects and freedom in creation," Chow said. "Sometimes I even wonder, 'Can they cover such stories?'"

@kingofpopbts2080 There was a pretty popular Korean film that had the Gwangju Uprising as the backdrop of the movie, A Taxi Driver. Can you imagine 6/4 at TS being the backdrop of a Chinese film?

@raymondwan-k4w A lot of the film directors / writers have shifted to TV / streaming. Korean movie budgets barely get to $10M budgets. They are getting budgets 3-4x that for their TV projects. A perfect example is Light Shop. Kang Full had taken some of his webtoons and made movies. Now, he's getting big budgets and doing they for the big streamers.

@mashitta5969 Japanese TV and film is just different. It's pace and cinematography takes time adjusting to it. Kurosawa is the godfather of modern film. He influenced all of the big Hollywood directors.
