  2. It’s an acronym derived from a French phrase, “Repondez sil vous plait”. Repondez = respond: sil vous plait = please.

  3. We borrow a lot of stuff and misuse the words. RSVP is often used as a noun or verb, “RSVP requested” or “Please RSVP”. We (Americans) aren’t very smart sometimes. Although some people will just say “RSVP before Jan 1st” which would be the proper way.
