It's the gerrymandering. Too many districts are uncompetitive, so there was way more compromise in politics out of necessity in the past. Apolitical districting and somehow getting the large donors out of politics would be my top 2 asks.

@dizzyMongoose I'm pretty centrist (really left in today's politics). I'm a believer in incrementalism, making sure programs don't have unintended consequences and being prudent. I thought the ACA was a good first step to evaluate and then see if it could be improved. But, I can see how the left is frustrated. Dems always have to be the sane ones and the right just comes in and blows stuff up without looking at the consequences or not caring. I'll almost understand if the left fires back aggressively in the same manner.

I have a feeling that you are not the average independent voter since you are watching the Bulwark. Me, I classify myself as center-left, but the goal posts have shifted so much, I'm considered a flaming liberal now.

Focus group people are so weird. They talk about how politics sucks and everything is negative... when they are basically negative and complaining. If politics were about issues, HRC would have won. Won't ever be able to please these people.

@reconquistahinduism346 I should have highlighted the word "average" more. The average voter including independents are not going to watch hours and hours of political analysis. They funny part is I was likely an above average voter in the mid-2000s and that's because I would watch the Sunday shows (if I wasn't hungover) and read the newspaper.

@reconquistahinduism346 Dude - you really don't understand the word "average". There were 155M voters in 2020. 1/3 are independents, so roughly 50M. The majority or "average" voter has little interest in politics and is busy with life.
