Parents learn as well. After us kids worked retail / restaurant jobs, my parents were generally more patient in those situations. They were pretty patient before though.

Luckily, I had a tight route. Basically, just my street and 3 surrounding streets. Was about 40 houses on the weekend afternoons. No Saturday evening paper. But, I had the whole Sunday route. It would balloon to over 80 houses. My Dad faithfully drove me around every Sunday. I'd bundle the papers and put them into the back of the station wagon / mini-van. Then, my dad would drive and I would sit in the trunk area with the papers and the door open. I'd grab a few papers and run to the houses and my Dad would wait. Also, I had to collect money from every house every month.

Delivered newspapers when I was 11 for nearly 2 years. Quit when...I started high school, lol. Then, worked in a restaurant in 9th grade on the weekends. 7-11 after that. And, then another restaurant. Also, had a summer job at the zoo when I was 15 and 16. I worked at 4 different places during my high school tenure.

@op3129 I delivered newspapers when I was 11. I rode my bike around the neighborhood on the days with less ads in the paper. Walked when the papers were bigger. And on Sunday, my Dad drove me around. Oh yeah, I had to walk around the neighborhood once a month and collect money from each subscriber.
