I casually used meth. Had access to it 24-7. Did it very occasionally. Just wasn't fun for me. Just got me hyper focused and not really high which isn't really fun for someone casually using drugs. (But, I swallowed it. Snorting was impossible. Wasn't going to smoke or inject it.)

@taliaasims I had 2 friends who were brothers. The younger one dated someone in high school who was living with her sister (and her new husband was pretty wealthy). Fast forward to after high school and the sister got divorced. They were living in a small apartment and both hooked on crack / freebasing coke. Was really sad situation and they looked terrible. I think that and they showed in high school drug education a dude who went crazy from PCP. Made rules about drugs and my limits. Never crossed them. Never smoked. Never injected. Never touched heroin.

Breaking the stereotype of saying "eh" and also being a mean Canadian.

@shawnhenderson1130 A bit of conflation. I think meth is a bad drug. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone. We (I) are making the general statement that people can casually use drugs even meth and not go off the deep end and down the rabbit hole.

Have to imagine that all of his activities was related to scoping out victims. Even the bell ringing for Salvation Army. Probably was watching women go by and fantasizing how he’d abduct etc them.

This show gave the general public the trends of drug use. First time I heard of fentanyl was from this show.
7
Always a good idea to get as much PR on old cases. Never know what will guilt someone or job someone's memory. Without DNA evidence, all these older cases are nearly impossible.
7
In a deposition, they ask general background questions first. The dude was asking very standard questions. If the pill was a mind altering drug, it has relevance if his answers were accurate.

@mattp4079 Yikes, a casualty of the Osprey? Just googled it. The Marine that died was Steve Sax's son. So, it was his cousin and not brother.

Many many years ago, my Ex's mom ran a store in the hood. They had bulletproof glass in the whole store. Customers would have to ask for items and the employee would get them. Customers had no access to items. (Was a bit of a shock for me as I grew up in the idyllic suburbs.)

If you live near a public area, you should expect random people using that public area.
4
@sodapunk9816 Nope, I used to sit in the library as a kid and read all day. Like everyone over the past 20 years, I've become more distracted with silly things ie phone.
4
4:01 wait, she was 13. How old was he?
4
I’m going to blow your mind. There is this thing called “syndicated television”. They take old TV shows and get ready for it. They replay the show again. Mind blowing right?
3
Has to be religion. Or, they were totally irresponsible.
3
Dude got greedy. Had a good racket going and was getting away with it.
3
Pretty lame that A&E doesn't post a small update in the body of summary. These are really old shows. Have no idea if these people are dead or alive.
3
JFC. I was in 9th grade at 13. If one of my friends Mom did that when she was drunk, I’d think it was a bit gross, but I wouldn’t need counseling. Geez.
3
Coke > alcohol. At least you can function normally.
3
Dude was selfish. Couldn't deal with his "secret" and had to get it off his chest so he could feel better. Totally weak move.
3
Easily could have gotten away with it if he had just buried the body somewhere. No DNA would have remained.
3
Was looking for this comments. Girl doesn’t seem like she’s coming back. Saw the other comment that she’s alive and still using. Seems like the clock is ticking though.
3
lol, people need to stop commenting in the adoption part. Obviously, it was the SA that sent her over the edge. She probably would have been a bit rebellious, but nothing like what she did.
3
Yeah, wasn’t expecting it to work. She’s way down the rabbit hole.
3
My Dad is a Navy Vet. And, my brother. Unless he was in the special forces / pilot, I'm not sure how this relates to active duty military issues.
3
Common law is basically case law or prior legal precedents. Once again, they are butchering legal terminology.
3
This is always why i use a sponge with tap water to close envelopes.
3
I think it's because we watched this show. It's basically the trigger for half of the females (at least). Parents have a hard time reading their kids sometimes. I was casually using drugs as a teen and my parents freaked out a bit. They went way overboard.
2
There was a great video of her looking very normal a few years after this.
2
@Steve_mdma Yeap, just one of my rules. Refused to smoke any drug (except weed).
2
Snorting meth is no fun. It's not like coke and burns pretty bad. Hard pass for me.
2
These people are idiots with or without social media.
2
I liked watching Cops as a kid, but it was never for the cops.
2
That's the whole point of playing sports when you are young. How to deal with losses. It's easy to play sports if your team wins all the time. (there are other benefits as well.)
2
It’s Hawaii. People are pretty chill there.
2
John Grisham literally made SWAT incompetence a theme in one of his books.
2
To be fair, NH has a weird local system. They have a million elected representatives.
2
@pauldavidhaynes8243 They are lacing coke now. NFL player just died because of it (Jaylon Ferguson). Likely, the dude just want to snort a few lines. Literally, just search for it. Huge case in FL. Drug dealers don't have morals. They could care less.
2
You don’t lift weights then.
2
Well, we just confirmed that 85 year old people fall down the internet rabbit hole.
1
Factually incorrect. You have to serve by 28. And, some people go to public / civic jobs for their stint.
1
Dude should be fired. Not fit to be an impartial arbiter with his obvious bias.
1
@m_d1905 I empathize with people with permanent pain. But if people are taking opioids long term for pain, it's the wrong solution.
1
Not a proponent of meth or heroin, but drugs need to be legalized. Too much money spent on drug enforcement.
1
Dude is going to have “fun” in prison.

@sodapunk9816 I started using drugs causally because a few of my friends did. They were into the beatnik stuff, so I tangentially started as well. Smoked a little weed, but acid was my drug of choice as a teen. Was always about the experience of the drugs. Used a bit of Ritalin during college to stay up for exams, but I did terrible. Was not a good study aid. All things being equal, I'd would stick with acid and E if I had my choice. But, that stuff was hard to get after college. So, basically dabbled with snorting coke on and off. And, E when I could get it. I don't even like weed. Just makes me sleepy and groggy. I had some dental work and they prescribed me opioids. I tried to not take them for the pain. I did later try them recreationally, but wasn't my thing. Just zonked me out. Not fun.

ni7496 It's sad that we can't have honest conversations about drugs including alcohol. No one is going to convince me that getting blackout drunk is better for me than dropping some acid or E. People do drugs for different reasons. Casual users tend to use drugs for fun and not to deal with trauma or hidden pain. Wasn't ever trying to escape my life. I've always enjoyed working since I was 11 (newspaper delivery).
1
It's a bit odd that a custody hearing is public.
1
No real withdraw symptoms from Coke and Weed. It’s more mental.
1
Fair sentence if not a bit heavy.
1
I'm sorry, but what a stupid program to have her front in center as a teen right after the SA. Obviously, she was still developing proper coping skills. Man, adults are pretty dumb.
1
Yeap, it's only going to work when they find a drug to shut off the receptors. Sounds weird. A drug to stop another drug. Some of the weight loss drugs are showing some promise in this area. We will see.
1
Kinda f-d up. They could have just confiscated the stuff at the gate. They seemed like decent passengers. Edit: The rule is to protect the airlines profits. I bought a liter of alcohol on an international flight from Duty Free and proceeded to drink 1/3 of it on the plane. Was pretty drunk and ended giving the remaining amount to the flight attendants.
1
Worked for Gap Corporate a while ago. The CEO started getting very concerned about logo merchandise because people would end up on the TV show, Cops, with Gap logo wear. I'm sure Under Armour is excited about this free advertising.
1
No way should the dude gotten bail. Seems pretty clear cut danger to the community. He left jail the first time and tried to murder them. WTF.
1
There are a lot of insidious incestous relationships in the US that invite corruption. - DA doesn't like to ruffle the police feathers - Lobbyists and politicans - Journalists and access to sources Too many to list.
1
Yeap, police has been incompetent for a long long time.
1
Sorry, I had to laugh at the part where she was using the whole supply for dealing
1
Power trip. Dude told him to hold on and the cop lost it because he always needs to be in control.
1
Dumbass lawyers. You need to force your client to take the deal.
1
Dude was an ex-wrestler. Nice half nelson.
1
If you want to commit crimes, leave your phone at home. You have a perfect alibi these days.
1
Man, our country is stupid.
1
The video is the edited version, but somehow the guy didn't turn out to be a mean dude. Just broken, but still seemed to have well measured sense of himself and the world even when he was addicted.
1
lol, first dude sounds like Zach Galifianakis doing a bad skit.
1
The B team of drug smuggling.
1
This is a bond hearing. It’s not a trial. She had no prior record. This is what should happen if she’s not a failure to flee and will show up at court.
1
Cops need to take Judo classes especially if they are smaller.
1
Wait, no one heard the gunshot?

@mark6302 This show has radically changed my opinion about homeless , drug addiction and drug policy. And, probably not in the way people would think. Drug treatment programs are nearly impossible with unlimited funds. Even worse with limited funds. Need to start accepting that homelessness and drug addiction are linked and it's impossible to solve short term. Sounds terrible, but the homeless need to be cordoned off to isolated areas. Supreme Court will decide, but vagrancy laws need to come back. In the past, I thought we need drug treatment and not enforcement. Now, I think we need to focus on the worst drugs: meth, heroin, fentanyl.
1
Fentanyl laced drugs scare me. Glad I used when stuff was a bit safer. I guess I’d find a drug testing kit if I still used now (was only a rec user of coke and ecstasy.)
1
Geez, that's 1200 calories a day on beer. Godspeed.
1
When I was 18, a friend and her older sister got addicted to crack. We visited their apartment and I was horrified. Swore that I would never try it. (And, this is when I was dropping a lot of acid and smoking weed.)
1
@timothyhoward6542 Dude - you are ignorant about chokeholds. Anything more than 20-30 seconds is dangerous. And, the dude was so fat, he had control without the hold.
1
lol, they were acting like it was Waco. House had a couple of bars on the window. What a joke.
1
200 pills a day? Man, I did the analysis on drug taking. Was pretty easy to realize that E needed to be spaced out or it lost its effectiveness.
1
Watching the movies Enemy of the State or Jason Bourne could have been helpful.
