I could be wrong, but when I lived in Korea, my door had a "deadbolt" setting. If you turned the knob to the setting, it could only be unlocked from the inside. Would be pretty hard to turn the knob with a piece of wire.

@Angela-lb9zi I'm guessing you haven't lived in Korea. Nearly everyone in a major city lives in an apartment / condo. And, nearly everyone has electronic locks. Obviously, there are exceptions since my relatives don't have one and moving the door made a horrible metal screeching sound when I went out to smoke in the middle of the night.

@Angela-lb9zi 1- they have variations, but most of them are just punching in numbers. And, yes. I'm going to assume all lock makers are going to add the "deadbolt" function. 2- There are only a few big companies that construct the condo buildings 3- The variety of goods is not as wide as the US. It's a pretty small country (Obviously, it's hyperbole, but the selection from my neighborhood store wasn't that much different from the bigger stores. I barely made the effort to shop at the bigger Emart because it was pointless.)

@Angela-lb9zi I'm far from an expert in Korea and only spend time in Seoul sightseeing. Most of my time has been spent in Incheon and Daegu (mid-2010s and earlier) and a bit before online shopping exploded. The biggest difference in businesses in Korea vs the US is the verticality. One of the main shopping malls in Daegu was Hyundai. And, my building was Hyundai as well. The conglomerates do business in everything. Also, its a really small country. The drive from SF to LA is longer than Seoul to Busan. And, 50% of the population lives in Seoul Metro (includes cities like Incheon in Seoul Metro though).
