Fun fact: I worked for a small US company my 2nd year out of school. My first job out of school was a large corporate 500 company. Worked there for 1 year and then was recruited by a department head that moved to this other smaller company. The new company had around 200+ corporate employees and we would have a Monday staff meeting jammed into a smallish room. Roughly a year into the job, I got into a public "argument" during the staff meeting with the CEO because I was somewhat defending our forecast / point of view (also, my direct boss was out sick). All of my co-workers were quiet and wanted me to be quiet (didn't realize this until after the meeting). Regardless, this would never happen in a Korean company. Realistically, this would never really happen in a big US company either. To a degree, this is what they are trying to encourage. Having lower level people not be fearful of open dialogue and point of view.

Realistically, it will take several generations for this to work. Hard for older people to accept that someone younger may be smarter than them. Also, a vast majority of the people protect their own position and possible promotions.

@wheresmyeyebrow1608 The "Korean" age thing is consolidating to international age. It applies to everyone. Really has nothing to do with honorifics. Same honorific rules will apply, but using international age.

The "Korean" age thing is a totally separate issue. Doesn't have to do anything with bad corporate culture based solely off job title and time in the company.
