Naw, people at that age have less stamina to work long hours. Like the video said, employees are doing the job of 2-3 people now.

@Caz-z1x Exactly, old timer. When I was in my 20s, I had 2 jobs. Full time office job with a 1 hour commute each way. Then, I worked 20+ hours a week waiting tables. Yes, I worked 7 days a week. Never took a vacation either (went 3 years with no vacation and only took time off because my friend got married). I'd go out once during the week and on Fri nights as well. When I was in my 30s, I was putting in 65 hours a week at the office and worked every Sunday. Back then, I was getting up and firing off emails at 5AM, but had to stop because it was scaring my team. Took a vacation maybe for 1 week. Was still going out several nights a week. And, yeah. I couldn't keep up after that. Edit: oh yeah, before I was department head, sometimes I would stay late and sleep under my desk. The drive would have been easy 20 mins since there was no traffic, but I was a maniac back then. I'd sleep for 4-5 hours and then go home and take a shower, brush teeth etc and then head back to the office.

@MrGerdbrecht Hmm, you must be European. I started working when I was 11. Had full time jobs in the summer all through high school and was working 2 jobs during the summer for most of college (not the latter half). I loved all my jobs when I was young. I got to meet new people from different parts of the city I would never meet in my US suburban town. Same with my waiting tables job post-college. Interacted with different people and always made a "game" out of it. I tried to be the most efficient waiter in the restaurant. And, it was a great change of pace from the office work. I've always regretted that I didn't work hard enough in those years. Going out and partying was overrated during that time period when I look back at it.

@skyking6989 Don't take this the wrong way, but is that 4 or 5 days a week? I dated a NP / RN (nurse) before and she complained about her long shift. Really wanted to tell her to pipe down because she only worked 3-4 days a week. Fireman do overnight shifts and long shifts, but also have "somewhat" long off times. But, I get your point. The new generation in the West is not about working long hours. Me, I was working 65 hours a week and realized I would not have made it in IB (investment banking). It was my supposed dream job after college. IB back then required a baseline of 80 hour weeks which is bonkers to average. And, 100+ hour weeks during a deal. Edit: 65 hrs a week isn't hard. Just requires sacrifice. You either have to sacrifice your whole work week and work 13 hour days or work 11 hour days for 6 days a week. I choose the later. (full disclosure: my commute with no traffic was <15 min. I had a cleaner that came once a week to my condo and I never cooked.)

@sabijea Way too many different gfs back then. And, a bunch of crazy ones. Really crazy. Even with my work schedule, I did A LOT of partying back then. An office job working 65 hours left a lot of free time. Full disclosure: my commute was really easy back then. <15 min with no traffic and I had garage parking at my condo and office building. Also, I had someone clean my apartment once a week. And, I didn't really cook. I had restaurants literally right outside my condo building. My commute when I had 2 jobs was much worse. I was driving a lot. A bit less time going out.
