Hear me out on this one: If you knew that your corrupt economy could blow up at any time, what would you do? 1- steal military secrets and beef up your forces to invade other countries 2- try to steal the most valuable resource in the world: advanced semiconductors (Taiwan) 3- steal territory from your neighbors (SE Asia) 4- beef up internal security forces to control the population when the economy blows up 5- eliminate any successful businessperson 6- create this world "program" that is designed to steal resources from other countries (BRI) But, this probably gives Xi too much credit. Probably believed in "Chinese exceptionalism" or some type of global "manifest destiny".
