  1. The fertility rate was above 5 until the mid-1970s. It stayed above the 2.1 rate (growing population) until the early 1990s. Then, add in modern medicine has extended lives. Life expectancy climbed from 33 in 1960 to 78 today.

  2. @ That is the weirdest stat to throw out. The US sells 15M per year. 31M has no relevance to anything. Politely, why would you use that number?
