  1. I follow a few Chinese stocks. The big names are doing ok. Still growing sales, but at a relatively modest rate. PDD is the exception, but a lot of that is overseas business. If names like BABA, Tencent, PDD etc grow and steal business, they aren't going to hire more or even expand more. Their ecosystem can handle another 10-20% without spending a ton more on capex or just hire a few more workers, but no way are they going to hire +20% or spend +20% in capex. All those brick and mortar stores will have downstream impacts when they start closing.

  2. Yeap, the global economy with volatile pricing is a zero sum game within a short time period. Xi has to be the worst economic leader in modern times. Let's support Russia and drive food and energy prices higher! Hmm, why aren't people buying our exports? He's a zealot. Don't think he cares much about economics or the Chinese people.

  3. Spend some time and watch Michael Pettis talk about "savers" and what it means. My rule of thumb is to trust the bond traders on macro stuff. The extremely short version is more spending is due to better distribution of income.
