  2. Don't forget the Kpop and Korean TV ban. It almost decimated the Korean TV business. They were paying $250K+ per episode on the top dramas and all the sudden, they withdrew. China was paying the highest per episode at that point. And, a funny thing happened. This smallish streaming business in the US called Netflix decided to dip their toes in the Korean TV business. Netflix is paying many multiples more now than the Chinese ever did. And, you have Apple and Disney buying shows too. While China was important to Kpop, it was more of an add on. Again, Korea turned West and finally started to break into the western music markets.

  3. Korea was de-risking even before the ban. Or it was just better economics. My cousin's fiance (now husband) was placed overseas in Vietnam for extended stints. Was involved in manufacturing. This was early 2010s. Eventually, he was transferred to Malaysia after they were married. (both native Koreans)

  4. lol, don't go to Asia. That flight will kill you. My parents live near Boston and I flew to Korea. Even the direct NYC flight on the A380 was 14+ hours (no connection).

  5. I'm assuming you are American. We are unique. We are one of the few countries that could fully decouple from China and be ok. Would hurt a few industries though. Much harder for other countries.
