  3. Really easy to get away with stuff back then. People weren't carrying around trackers. No camera phones. CCTV was blurry and didn't hold much data + barely any cameras. Was pure luck solving cases back then.

  4. The DUI arrests were way spread apart: 1987, 1991, 2004, 2016. Even if he was jailed in '16, the dude would be out by now. (likely, these were the times the dude was caught only though.)

  6. Just searched for it. At least be accurate. The dude got 6 years. And if you read between the lines, the guy likely turned and gave up people for the plea agreement. Or, it looks like sentences are "relatively" light. They jump to 20+ years if someone overdoses and dies.

  12. Dude - you need to street google it (if you aren't familiar with the area). Ain't going to happen. It's basically a residential city neighborhood. Relatively small sidewalks. (Used to live 5 min walking distance from it.) Btw, it's been firebombed 2x.

  17. No death penalty in CA. Plea deals save time for the victims family and hours for the government. IMO, he should get a chance for parole in 25-30 years if he doesn’t have a violent past.

  20.  @MrJuvefrank  "Mean girl" has a valid point. The cleared rate of cases has dropped. The data doesn't support my claims. But, if you dig deeper, it's because there are way more gun related incidents. They are much harder to solve because they are distance crimes. Generally, cases in the past involved eyewitness testimony, police districts that didn't interconnect, standard police evidence (fingerprints, possible blood) and no usable camera evidence. My friend was the "other" girl in Serial podcast. They had zero leads and only solved it 15 years later when DNA was matched up. Police had no clue of the guy until the DNA was matched.

Sounds like a crazy political person, so people can stop making weird assumptions: The driver said 'where's the CCP' (Chinese Communist Party) as he emerged bleeding from the blue Honda sedan and was grabbed by guards just after 3pm Pacific time. He was shot when police arrived moments later and was declared dead after being taken to hospital.

  28. I used to live in way Outer Richmond for a short spell. Not sure why, but sometimes motorcades would go the Great Highway route. A bit odd though. Maybe it was going down to the South Bay and 280 is easier.

  29.  @JoeyWheeler-t4d  Honestly, our system doesn't work like that and it's a tough subject. You could easily see how the guy would say that he had a problem and he had been doing well for 12 years and relapsed. No judge is going to throw him in jail for 20+ years.

  30.  @JoeyWheeler-t4d  This is the generally accepted system in our society. Realistically, this case is more an outlier than norm. Typically, you would see the "bad" DUI cases strung together in say a 5 year window and people would be like "what the heck happened" and why wasn't the punishment harsher. This case is atypical.

  32. I'm no doctor, but I know enough that it's way more complicated then matching blood type. That's why there is a bone marrow donor program.

  33.  @Ennui83  Eh? I was friends with the "other" Korean girl in the Serial podcast. Cops had no clue or real leads. Eventually, they matched the DNA because she was SA'd. Dude wasn't even on the possible list of suspects. And, that's how cases are solved now. DNA or the murderer gets "weak" and confesses to someone and that person turns them in.
