Props to the valet driver that squared up with him.

Just luck of the draw sometimes. Was broadsided hard when we were teens. My friend was driving and got on an off ramp due to construction and didn’t realize there was a traffic light. We ran a red light. Back then, we didn’t wear seat belts in the back seat and my body flew back and my head broke the hatchback glass. When the car stopped, I ended up in the trunk. Could have been way worse.

A very long time ago, I worked at 7-11 as a teenager. a few points: 1- we had a time locked safe. We barely held any cash in registers. Maybe $40 max. Time lock safe would let us withdraw $20 at a time and this is when people didn't use credit cards. We would always deposit $20 bills in these tubes into the safe (didn't have access to open the safe). 2- we were very friendly with our local police. I think there was a discount program for them (can't remember) 3- we had a panic button (this was in a suburb of an East Coast city with virtually no crime.)

Most State Police officers go through an extensive training program. Local towns will hire just about anyone.

I ran away as a teen as I felt backed into a corner (that I created). But, I went to my older brothers place a few states away. His roommate drove me back. My parents were pretty rational about it and I stayed with my good friend and their family until I graduated big school. None of this weird child protective services and stuff needed to get involved.

Police: Hey, look at this dude almost dying Public: Can we see his medical record of what happened? Police: HIPAA! HIPAA! We can’t disclose that (Don’t ever trust the police.)

@chrisgullett4332 Don't even need to go back that far. It was worse in the 1980-90s. No internet, so people didn't dwell on it. Edit: case in point...LA County had 1900 mu-rders in 1991. That's the entire number for the state of California in 2023.

@anonymousstrangeness7348 lol, you serious? Huge civil lawsuit.

Hiking dangerous paths with 100ft drops is risky.

lol, anymore? People think because we have cameras now that kidnappings didn't happen in the past. Hilarious.

It's TX, FL and then CA (thru May 2nd data).

There was probably a time period where people could sweep stuff under the rug. But, surely she doesn't actually think she's not going to jail right? There are some countries where you can pay off the victims and get a lesser sentence. The US ain't one of them. Has to be at least 10 years for each kid. Yikes, just did a google search. The general rule is that a defendant serves 50 percent of his or her sentence while in prison. Violent felony is 85 percent. Yeah, she needs to get 30+ years, so she can serve at least 15 years in jail. She's 60, so she'll get out when she's 75.

State Police vs Local police. Generally speaking, State Police are trained better and are better cops.

@joketsu100 Man, people need to take a basic statistics class. The lack of awareness to use per 100,000 stats is appalling.

It's always been like this, but people just used to get into fist fights.

Trump let 3 CCP ballon’s invade our airspace and did nothing.

It's all minorities that were killed with the exception of the security guard.

Yes.

We are way behind the world in cars recording everything. Dash / car cams are basically required for insurance in a lot of other countries. In Korea, you'd have 20 different angles of this recorded.

lol, whenever it's a white dude, people don't mention "usual suspects" or any other coded language.

@Tbcycoji I always remember my Dad telling me to look up how to spell words. I always was like, "I have no idea how to spell the word. How do I look it up? Yeap, trial and error." People are so spoiled with information at their fingertips and still are too lazy to get the right info.

@brandonceja-mj3go I'm saying the system wasn't nutcases in the past. It's a while ago, but I vaguely remember meeting with a cop. They wanted to make sure I was ok and had shelter. Back then, you could drop out of school when you were 16. Cops didn't force me to move back in with my parents even though I was 16-17.
1
Yeah, that was predictable.

@imanoldurango8213 I think I was pretty young. Maybe 14-15 years old, lol I started working when I was 11 (had a paper route).

California is 8th least per capita in gun deaths per year (state ranking). And, that still equates to 11 deaths per day.

CCP China forced a Korean company to basically shutdown in China after investing $10B. Also, they banned Korean TV shows and music. And, this was because Korea installed a defensive missile system on their sovereign land (THAAD).

The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is an ex-cop with a gun. Wait a sec.
