The most pro-worker admin in my lifetime. Some businesses are going to be very very angry.

@RevShifty I'm a centrist. I always feel like there should be a middle ground. But I'll concede that it's swung way to the corporate advantage over the years.
10
umm, you are pro-worker and going to vote for Trump?
8
Naw, you saw how the guy spun "conservatism" like a pretzel. Classically, it's pure government over reach. The right would defend this as free markets and letting the consumer decide to buy or not buy.
8
Dude - obviously, the other way hasn't worked.
7
@reed6514 Middle ground: companies should be able to grow their profits AND workers should get reasonable pay. Costco is the example that comes to mind.
7
I can't imagine that "inefficiencies" in government run agencies outstrip the profit margins / dividends that private companies make.
3
@miwiarts lol, the other guy swings toward Israel even harder. At least Biden is trying to thread the needle.
2
We'll look back in history one day and realize how effective Joe Biden was as POTUS. Joe invested in America. Trump gave tax breaks to the rich during his term. God help us if that orange guy is back in office.
2
Yeah, she's a bit too aggressive on the merger side. Blocking the Coach merger seems silly to me. It's luxury goods. It's not a necessity. The whole point is to have high prices.
2
@RevShifty umm, wasn't there a college athlete at some point that made some big kerfuffle? Some pretty big physical differences by high school (in some cases I'd imagine). Though I was pretty skinny not all my friends were or my brother.
2
@RevShifty lol, another "middle ground". Unions. I'm pro-union! But damn. That crappy MLB umpire that can't get fired because the union protects him (Angel Hernandez). Also, my Dad was a teacher. I think I remember reading about NYC teachers at some point (not my Dad's city). The really bad teachers weren't fired, but sent to some room where they would sit there all day and get paid (this was many years ago).
2
@reed6514 I won't disagree with any of that, but I'd caution you a bit. We have close to 160M workers in the US. And generally, companies are structured to follow rules. Genuine mistakes happen. Also, intentional negligent acts happen. It's going to be a mixed bag.
2
@skyisreallyhigh3333 lol, I am a centrist and I'm left of Bill Clinton.
2
I always like the poker game analogy. Poker works well when people have a similar amount of chips. If 1 person has all the chips, the game is no fun. The economy and our societal system works optimally when more people have chips.
2
Voting matters. Going to be another close election in November.
2
Midwest governors have a way different scope of responsibilities.
2
Yeah, this is his wheelhouse. He's going to be a real asset to the potential Harris admin.
2
To be fair, most apparel companies don't run high margins. Lots of costs in the system that supports jobs in the US.
1
Bubba Clinton's legacy is soiled in more ways than one. Lots of (un)intended consequences.
1
Anytime the system "blows up", they'll get a government bailout or rates will skyrocket. They will never invest in the system.
1
@kevinstfort Dude - if you don't mention Hamas, I am going to assume you are pro-Hamas. No sense even to discuss.
1
I'm pretty sure I saw a similar piece about pigs in North Carolina. Dems really lost their way a bit. They should have been hammering these types of issues for the past 2 decades.
1
Island areas are extremely tough. No food production base, so basic needs costs are extremely high. No corporations want to be based there, so incomes are depressed. Automatically creates a high cost and low income environment that makes it difficult for the lower / middle class.
1
Yeah, it's hard to realize this if you fly only out of big airports. Definitely, it's the smaller / routes with less traffic that get squeezed the hardest. I will caution. Southwest entered the Hawaii market and seemed to be trying to kill the main carrier. Hence the Hawaiian merger with Alaska.

@reed6514 I have no idea who Jubilee is, but tangentially I do have mild concerns about trans people competing in women's sports. I'd like to find a middle ground. Balancing fairness and allowing everyone access to sports. I'm not informed enough to have a definitive opinion (and likely won't spend the time either).
1
@reed6514 I'm not sure what companies you worked for, but generally the ones I worked for just followed the rules. As someone that used to sign off on SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley), we just complied and did the extra work.
1
The Dems are terrible at marketing their accomplishments and making them selling points.
1
@ReynaldoAbasr I'm shocked that people aren't using YKK. I've been out of the game for a while, but everyone used YKK. And, you have very long lead times. We always had to worry about the zippers first.

Any time a somewhat isolated region is tourism based, it's nearly impossible for the working class to afford it. Hawaii is the same. Would be really easy to these rich people to pool money together and build a bunch of affordable rentals for workers. Robber Barons 2.0
1
@Sofiapaate No, SVB was pure mismanagement. They were buying bonds on the short end and somehow went nuts and shifted to the long end. Total madness.
1
lol, totally bonkers! Iowa paid for this company to make it's owners rich with this buyout.
