200K is small for US standards. Bakersfield is 2x that.

@Worldaffairslover Anyone that grew up in a major city / major suburb will say its small. And, people that didn't will say the opposite. These are all comparable cities in the US. Starts with after 100th biggest and goes smaller: Rochester; New York Richmond; Virginia Spokane; Washington Des Moines; Iowa Montgomery; Alabama Modesto; California Fayetteville; North Carolina Tacoma; Washington Shreveport; Louisiana Fontana; California Oxnard; California Aurora; Illinois Moreno Valley; California Akron; Ohio Yonkers; New York Columbus; Georgia Augusta-Richmond; Georgia Little Rock; Arkansas Amarillo; Texas Mobile; Alabama

@Worldaffairslover Don't know what to tell you dude except you need a new screen name. I've lived in the suburbs of Baltimore, Honolulu and San Francisco which I would consider small cities in the US.

@Worldaffairslover You've never been to Cali right?

@Phillip Banes Dude - I dated a girl who lived in Bakersfield and I lived in NorCal. The airport is tiny. There are no tall buildings. It's just one big suburb surrounded by oil equipment and farms.

@andrzejszpak688 Cities get tricky in the US. Bakersfield is...the whole city. Many cities in the US have suburbs around the city proper. For example: Baltimore has around 575K people in the city, but 875K people directly around the city within 30 min of the city line. (I grew up <5 minutes drive outside the city line.) You have to evaluate each city on its own.
