Ironic that it was leftover American made helicopters from the Shah. Obviously, those are really old. And, sure seems to go against bad guy America to be transported in American hardware.

@BridgettReese There are few operators of the Bell 212 remaining. Very few though. Lots of operators of the newer 412 version, so they were probably retrofitting newer parts with the older model. The bigger issue is the pilots likely had limited flight hours since parts and maintenance were difficult. And, it's not like the west where they can jump into a simulator. The weirder part is why they didn't buy some Russian ones. Russian choppers are pretty reliable.
