  3. Coincidentally, I was just googling the 2017 tax cut savings for AAPL. The report, covering the first three months of the company’s activities under the new tax rules, shows $16.1 billion of worldwide pretax income, and an income tax provision of $2.35 billion, for a tax rate of 14.5 percent. By comparison, the company’s effective tax rate for the first three months of calendar 2017 was 24.9 percent. If last year’s effective tax rate were still applicable, the company’s first quarter income taxes would be $1.68 billion higher.

  5. Fun Fact: they used to roll tobacco in barrels to transport it to the harbor and ship to Europe. Hence, the name "Rolling Road" in the Baltimore suburbs. The odd juxtaposition of Maryland. Kinda the South, but not really. Not really the North either. Hence all the battles from the Civil War.

  6. Yeap, we are crippling a near-peer adversary for the next decade+ with no American boots on the ground for 0.2% of GDP. This would be a cold war dream scenario. Both are worth the investment. We were spending 4.5-5.5% of GDP on defense spending post-Vietnam. It's around 3% now even with Ukraine funding.

Not all the merchandise that gets unloaded on the West Coast...is for the West Coast. 2/3 of the population lives east of the Mississippi. Why do I know this? Because my first job out of college was for a Fortune 500 company and I was a distribution analyst.

  8. I grew in (near) Baltimore. Used to go to Crazy John's (had to google to remember the name) when I was a teenager and play video games. I survived.
