  1. The more I read about the Clinton admin, you realize it was a total disaster. Vox had a good piece on how the 1996 IIRIRA law open the floodgates to our immigration issues. Basically, it ramped up and made deportation easier. Once harsh penalties came out, people made the decision to stay in the US rather than go back and forth. And, the 1996 law made it harder for people to become legal.

  2. Amusingly, the penalty / punishment to companies hiring the undocumented workers somehow "disappeared" from the Reagan amnesty package. Flow of labor via immigration has always been a "wink wink" from the business community.
