Great Video Ryan! I love the point you make that solid-state isn't the goal, its higher density batteries and lithium anodes... It's fascinating in science and engineering when we develop one type of technology for decades, only to see it surpassed by some new contender no one sees coming.

Only Zack would think, two achilles' heels, cold weather and towing, and think I know I'll do both. It's why we love him!

Super Jealous Matt, I've been eyeing one of these for a while now! Congrats on the latest addition to your smart home! Quick question, is the $3,500 you mentioned including labor and everything?

Yes I want to do this so badly! There's so much in just the States to see it could takes years and be so fun :) but yeah I hear yah... there are some challenges to be sure... throw 2 wild baby boys into that mix... and see how one's sanity fairs!

Awesome video as usual Matt! By the way Feb 2020 was about 18 months ago ...lol... yeah face to face interactions... I remember those!

No doubt … good stuff!

such a great video! As someone trying to do this with a retrofit on an old house, there's SO much I'm envious of! Love that standing seam metal roof, especially in a light color... and your heat recovering ventilation system so cool. But BY FAR I'm most jealous about your ground loop geothermal heat pump system!

[Ricky] Probably smart Brad, yeah I have always bought used cars so far...

We have a two part series on this topic of batteries. Part one is out now. Part two really proves why you’re wrong and will release in 2 weeks

[Ricky] We have a video addressing this point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywh_Gyrw38g&t=3s

Excellent Video!

[Ricky] Yes good point. So with cracked cells, that you epoxy, you'll lose quite a bit of output, because all the reflection/refraction that occurs in the cracks will degrade the amount of light hitting the cells. But there are overstock panels, b grade panels that work perfectly well. I was tempted to buy some LG 330W cells this way on ebay ;)

Thanks for supporting some great causes us included!

[Ricky] this is "recommended" maintenance from the Model S. Here's the thing, no one really ever does this sort of stuff, for all three cars. But yeah we can try to find more real world numbers soon. we have a lot of videos planned that will help with all this
2
[Ricky] We are planning such a video! so subscribe, and we'll make it in the coming months!

I found your channel a few weeks back, and I have to say you're doing great work. We have a similar channel, covering similar topics around the future of EVs and energy. Any interest in collaborations?
2
[Ricky] I think inside 10 years we'll have a seriously awesome EV Truck :) yeah I agree that would be awesome.
2
[Ricky] Agreed, this is the "recommended" maintenance from the dealer, which no one really ever does.

what an AMAZING video... the best i've seen in a long time... Matt looking at those MASSIVE exterior walls... has got me so Jealous! well done!
2
[Ricky] Why do you say that? Tell me, what's a great car in your opinion?
2
[Ricky] Frankie, I have some advice for you, there's a button your keyboard called "caps lock" do me a favor and hit that button for me. Speaking of annoying things... so Making Cars is VERY HARD... when you agreed to buy a car that wasn't ready to be produced, you have to assume some level of risk. Just wait, they'll have the car soon.

I think you captured it perfectly, the issue isn't with demand. There's plenty of demand, invariably, it'll fall on battery capacity being able to keep up. Wait until Audi tries to sell thousands of E-Trons, rather than hundreds, for Tesla's real market advantage to emerge. Thank you for making this video!

Amazing video... I love that you touch on the culture of it all. We're born out of a boundless mentality and its kinda what makes America great, the optimism. But it has really done a disservice when it comes to homes and even cars. The problem usually is that by the time people care and realize how poorly insulated their homes are, its too late and they're buried by high energy bills. In parts of europe, when you sell your home, you get a "energy cost score card" kind of like the energy guide for buying a new appliance! How cool would it be to know how bad your bills will be before you buy

Great Video Matt... this design just looks like such a no brainer! I had a reversible window system that cost $650 at Home depot, which could cool and heat. But it was an eye sore and monopolized the entire window. This in comparison sits low and could just be left in place year round! Also I'd imagine a system like this would be way easier to seal up, something I struggled with with my traditional window system. the big question is ... why is it so much more expensive? that 90 degree bending fitting? I do love that it's also a little ledge you can put stuff on after its installed. so genius, lets hope these can come down in price to closer to $1000, where I'd say it would be a no brainer! excellent video!

Great video Matt! I've always heard of quatum dots for new TV Displays, but hadn't thought about their application in solar! If we can figure out a non toxic long lasting blend, it would be such a game changer!
1
Loving the new visuals and music Matt! Can you make a video on how you rolled your own charge from excess solar using span?
