  2. Don't put all the blame on wanting cheap imports, but on American workers who wanted more and more pay, benefits, always striking. I remember 40 years ago the auto workers striking constantly, complaining, $ 35-40 an hour (including benefits) weren't enough. They priced themselves out of the world market. Europeans were similar. If not for competition, cheap imports, just imagine what we would be paying for autos, appliances, electronics etc. That would stifle 1st world economies.
