@matttaylor678 it took only 32000 because the ruling upper castes of India gave in to the British. The upper castes are genetically different from most Indians and they hated the local Indians as well. But they were not man enough to face the industrialized and armed British army. The British also used cunning backhanded divide and conquer tactics not a proper war. Europeans who fought a proper full on war with Indian Kingdoms were sent back home such as the Dutch attack on the South West Indian coast, the Portugese, some Arab Kingdoms etc. Only physical war we lost is to the Mughals. British never fought a full on war. It was slow steady tactical penetration into Indian society. A famine being before and after the British is not reason enough to excuse the Brits in particular for it. This particular famine in question was artificially created by the Brits as they didn't consider the Bengalis human at all. Famines before the Brits came into the picture were either a result of poor administration of the kings or some other natural causes. There's no recorded proof that local Indian Kingdoms used famines as a weapon of war either for example, nullifying your point.

@Kath-N Western civilization was influenced by middle eastern Christianity heavily. and that shaped their society the way it is today. Previously they were weird barbarians. I'm not against taking inspiration from a foreign culture. I'm only against justifying colonization for the supposedly greater gain of better technology and knowledge. Japan shamelessly borrowed so much Intel and tech from Western countries and.... that I'm cool with.
