@treadmildashx Britain didn't even do that. That's the point!

@englishalan222 Man, you're pretty old and have plenty of time to argue on the internet with random people over the course of 10 months, so you're probably lonely too. It's really shameful man. 😥😥😥. And, you keep missing the point in most of your comments too: "Why should we apologize to a group of people who did the same things as us" Recall what the speaker said in this video: You're not doing it for the sake of Indians, you're doing it to atone for YOUR sins; you're doing it for your own sake.

Yeah his delivery wasn't fiery enough throughout the speech. He should've added a little more spice either with his more charming oration or a couple more jokes. Usually, he sounds pretty charming. Looks like he didn't want to "try" too much and embarass himself in a reputed environment like this so he dialed it down. And when he said "the raj didn't have definitive shaping impact" I believe he's referring to a "positive impact ". Contextually, this interpretation of that statement makes more sense.

Usually, in many TN interviews PTR and most DMK candidates acknowledge this fact.

@englishalan222 Well, cool...... Keep being a loser, I guess? I can't keep arguing with an old man for another 10 months lmao 😂😂

@Pravin.sg83 he's from a different department of the Lehman brothers. The department that crashed Lehman brothers is not his.

@pratapmandal1046 And TN's political party and its historically important party candidates accept the British contribution. What this debate is about is the myth that the Raj is why today's India is what it is today. The raj was an evil stimulus. The actual work was done by Indians....is what PTR's side is arguing.

Ummmm....DMK, the party PTR belongs to completely acknowledges the British contribution: they've erected statues for many British linguists who've contributed a lot to Tamil literature and lexicon, they've paid homage to many missionaries who provided education to lower classes and yada yada. But there still exists this notion that modern India is a result of Brits unintentionally training Indians with their superior expertise for centuries during colonial times to get India to where it is today. That's completely false. Brits were a stimulus. The rest of the work was done by post-independence Indians.
