Charlotte's not that bad at all. In fact, NC is one the best states to live in. I live in Cary, NC and love it. There's not really anywhere in NC I would consider all that scary. I grew up in Los Angeles and have no urge to go back, ever.

@je-pk8sp Yeah it can be a little rough in some areas of Fayetteville. Nothing like Detroit, though. Cary, Holly springs, spec, Morrisville are all very safe, clean, abd has good jobs and housing.

Compared to other places he's covered, Charlotte isn't bad at all. I grew up in Los Angeles and won't ever go back.

@eara8426 Yes. They want a constant increase in their standard of living while doing the same job they were doing as a teenager

Charlotte's done a pretty good job of improving. North Carolina in general is one of the best states to live. I live 3 hours west of Charlotte, right outside Raleigh. Great state

@PennySayver Compared to Detroit, Compton, or South Chicago, Charlotte isn't that bad. I've lived in NC for years and don't feel scared anywhere here. It's all subjective. If NC is the only place you've ever lived maybe those areas are scary, but they really aren't.

I've thought about buying land there after I retire. You can get a lot of acreage for cheap.

@gp10020 Rent control causes these problems. No incentive to build anything but luxury housing

I grew up in LA back in the 80s. I would like to take my wife and kids back to show them my old home town, but I'd be embarrassed to do so now

@palmtrees2420 Yeah it was the murder capital when I lived there. We'd risk our lives to get Fat Burger in Compton on a Saturday night

Places like this will have a new dawn. Cheap land with a beautiful view, perfect for people who work remotely online and don't have to live in the same physical location as where they get their money., For the price of the median house in the US , you can get 200 acres of good land and never see anybody else.
