@clarino2 Well, we know that most people aren't testing, so it's we know it's not 1/3 of all. This, it's 1/3 of those who did test. What percentage is that? Even if it's %10 of all births, that would mean around 3% are not the father.

@clarino2 That's a misleading figure. That's 1/3 of contested births, not total births. As in, the guy already has a good suspicion it isn't his, and gets tested. 1/3 end up correct, which means 2/3 of the time a guy think it's not his kid, it really is.

@manos7958 Well, what kind of math do you suggest? What percentage of births are contested? Do you think it's more than 10 percent? Ok, even if it was 30 percent. One third of 30 percent is 10. Even if nearly one third of dads were getting tested, and I'm sure it's a very small number in reality, that would be 10 percent of all kids.

The NIH says about 300,000 paternity tests are conducted every year in the US. There were 3.6 million births last year. That's 8 percent of births. 1/3 of 8 is 2.64. So less than 3 percent of all births, as far as we know, end up not being the father
