Let's hope you are never wrongfully prosecuted and, in error, found guilty because after 34 years as a criminal defense litigator and a repeated litigator to the SCOTUS, I can tell you that it is far more easy, straightforward and streamlined to incarcerate an innocent defendant than it is getting an innocent defendant out of prison.
If one of us are denied our due process rights, then, ALL of us are not guaranteed due process rights under the law. Personally, I'd rather see 100 men walk free than to have one innocent man lose his life. If it can happen to quite wealthy people, like these brothers, who can afford the absolute best defense, then, it can definitely happen to you
As a side note, if you've never thought about nor concerned yourself with getting arrested and convicted for a serious felony that you didn't do, you, my friend, are a person of privilege. Those without this privilege think about it several times each month, including every time they see a patrol car. Some of us really need to take a good look of how our opinions and emotions are formed, especially when there are a significant number of others saying and often showing that our personal beliefs and experiences are a 180 from a significant number of others and their experiences. There are estimated to be 4 to 5 times that many serving life sentences for crimes they did not actually commit.
FOR our judicial system to continue to work properly, we must be willing to own up to our own mistakes, including the Prosecutors. judges and jurors
