@DakotaDeb And they don't realize that "Stable Genius" means someone with an advanced degree in Horse Husbandry

@patshelby9285 Most people aren't going to support that idea. But, requiring churches to meet the same qualifications as all other non-profits is not a radical idea. Churches should be held to the same accountability as all other non-profits -- no more, no less.

@TheJesselopez1981 They should have to qualify for their tax exempt status like any other non-profit must do -- no more, no less.

Bingo. Once again, we see the GOP's projection at work.

@Flonet50 Anyone who thinks public schools should encourage students to read the Bible should Google: "The Lot family from the Book of Genesis" . Then, get back to us.

@chittypoofs That's because they pick and choose what parts of scripture they want emphasized. Since they want to ban books, the first one to go should be the bible, imho. The one story that always comes to mind when I hear book-banning is the Lot family from the Book of Genesis -- The two Lot daughters devised a plan to plough their daddy with wine each night so they could "trick him" into impregnating both of his daughters. Their plan was successful. Both daughters gave birth to their own father's children. I wonder how "Don't Say Gay" DeSantis would feel about a teacher talking about and praising the Lot family in the classroom.

The very first clause in the Bill of Rights: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.". No government dollars are allowed to go towards anything that emphasizes one religion over another, and the cost of requiring public schools to display the ten commandments in every classroom, clearly goes against this federal law. Some civil liberties organization will challenge this new Texas law and it will quickly be deemed unconstitutional. Look no further than the 2005 case of McCreary County v. American Civil Liberties Union. The Supreme Court ruled that the display of the Ten Commandments in two Kentucky courtrooms was unconstitutional. There are several SCOTUS rulings to support the "required Bible study time allocation" in public and charter schools will easily be declared unconstitutional. The Texas republican legislature is clearly doing this for sound bites to their base.

@patshelby9285 Pat, That's not Christian charity. That's called Christian Love. 🙄

@estibon3872 Walls in the classroom being crowded with posters is hardly the point

@blipco5 "Don't say gay"??

@patshelby9285 They don't want children developing critical thinking skills and philosophies. They want every child to be indoctrinated AS long as they approve of the indoctrination.
