  2. Well, they have to get nominated and appointed somehow. There are a few states that actually elect their state supreme court justices. Those are often more political!

  3. ​​ @ramsey4630  If they were elected, we'd have HUNDREDS of federal judges (candidates) to choose from on the ballot. If it was done by district, then anyone going to federal trial in at least half of the 13 districts would likely only have a roster of all Republican judges or all Democratic judges. For example, the federal district in North Georgia would be 100% Republican judges. I don't like the idea of ANY judge being elected AND likely beholden to campaign donors!
