It's encouraging to hear the Florida case should be completed before the 2024 general election (and Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana). Texas will take a bit more time. I wonder how it will shake out if the TX Legislature tries to flip the results in Houston county next year.

@Jake-pq3iz The US has never been a pure democracy. There are no pure democratic governments in the world. We've always been a representative democracy. That said, every country the US has assisted in setting up their own democratic systems has opted not to have an electoral college because it's unnecessary. The US has outgrown the need for the EC.

We need standards for how many Justices there should be. For example, if we have 13 district courts, we need 13 Justices.

@robm.4512 Yes, the gifts must be reported, but I don't foresee garland opening a case to investigate this. The DOJ is the only one who has any authority to do anything about this because Congress doesn't have the votes to impeach. Roberts isn't going to do anything . Apparently, Trump isn't the only American who is above the law.

@JustChuck1982 Oh, I'm not disagreeing that ethics should and do exist, but there is no official code of ethics. The justices cannot violate what doesn't technically exist.

@Tick421 The extent of the abuse by the justices wasn't known then. That said, Sen Whitehouse has been calling out for an official code of ethics for years.

@SocratesINl That's because blue states don't get taken to court for gerrymandering and violating the federal Voting Rights Act! Democrats play by the rules!
