While I understand that they went through and incredibly horrible horrific experience and I personally would like to see them compensated for it, I don't understand how this qualifies for liability damages when all the individuals were made aware of the risks, including the possibility of death, when signing their waivers. This is especially true on a first-step human drug trial. Please don't blast me in the comments that I'm being insensitive. I'm only referring to the legal liability of the pharmaceutical company as it seems like they didn't deviate from government approved protocol. In hindsight, yes, the drug probably should have been administered/infused more slowly with longer times between patients. However, ALL procedures adhered to the UK's standards, at that time, for a first step drug trial. Perhaps, the measure of liability is different in the UK versus the US.

  10.  @two-bit8502  Prisons in the US are revolving doors and privatization keeps them that way. There's no requirement to offer any rehabilitation programs, and it's more profitable for there to be repeat offenders.
