  2. Although he didn't raise his voice/tone, he certainly was defensive. Oddly enough, he was defensive BUT he defending other's behavior and not once defended this own behavior which is ONLY what the graduate

Personally, I think the good deeds we do for others that are the most God-like (Christ-like to Christians) and selfless are the deeds we do when no one is looking, as in those that we do 100% anonymously, esp when we don't see the fruits of our labor and don't even know if our selfless action ever ended up helping someone. To give without anyone knowing AND to give without knowing if your gift was ever even received by someone else is how I define true gifts of selflessness. All other gifting has some type of selfish angle to it. Please do not miscontrue that statement into me saying that if someone else knows of our deed, we shouldn't do it. I don't mean that at all. When we give, we usually expect to either witness the receiver's joy from the gift or pride from our peers witnessing our actions OR we feel good inside seeing how our gift has helped another. Those gifts all have a "me" angle, but to give without anyone else knowing we gave AND without us ever knowing if our gift even made it to the recipient(s) is a purely selfless act. Again, it's not wrong to enjoy the happiness we feel after volunteering and giving our time or our money b/c providing our assistance to another human being is the end result no matter how you slice it.
