  1. Bingo. What she means is white children who grow up homes with a mom who uses racial slurs and promotes racism might feel bad about learning history. She can deny it all she wants, but there's no doubt in my mind that she definitely promotes racism and is a racist when in private. Children who aren't exposed to racism in the home do not "feel bad" about themselves for what others did a century ago UNLESS they are experiencing the same attitudes in their home environments. There's no way I will or would ever believe this mother doesn't let her racism pour out at home. Children are not born with racist views. That is a 100% learned behavior and they aren't learning it by being exposed to history. Hopefully, like me, they will realize at a young age exactly what their parents are and will make sure the attitudes of their parents are not passed on to their children. Freedom and Liberty has always meant something completely different for White America than it has to Black America. That is just one of many issues that need to be addressed. Oh, and no one who is actually a Christian would ever use a racial slur, but it's from the mouths of self-proclaimed Christians that I hear racial slurs the most often. It's not enough for White people to be anti-racist. We must proactively be against racism. That means immediately calling it out every single time we see it or hear it. Trust me-- after a few times of calling out everyone who uses a racial slur in front of you, you will get used to the jaw-dropping.

  2. In other words, she's afraid her children will feel singled out because they hear racial slurs and racist opinions from mom at home on a frequent basis. White children living in homes where racism is not promoted are not going to "feel bad" about learning history.
