The sanctions will collapse the Russian economy. With inclusion of oil and gas it will have major problems. Unfortunately it will take time.

The best thing to happen in Europe and the world is the reduction or total stoppage of cheap gas and oil from Russia. Renewables now actually have a chance to really start becoming primary sources of energy. Yes their will be short term pain but look at what the west has to gain unlimited energy supplies, no more blackmail by dictatorships, and we may even save the climate temp increase from destroying the world.

Under Trump America would actually become a hostile adversary to Europe. The republican party he leads is a supporter of Putin who is trying to destroy Europe. I think it's time for us to build up our independent military strengths and become less reliant on the Americans. Even the Uk, a staunch ally of the USA, is being disrespected more and more.

@Nigissimo Ukraine is mainly defending. You don't need a great deal of training to man a trench and shoot the enemy as they come forward. You need 3 attackers for every 1 defender. So Russian losses are going to be much higher than Ukraine's. Plus the actual experience of war soon makes any rookie soldier into a killing machine in a very short period of time. Russia has lost this war. Even if they take half of Ukraine they can't hold it. It will be worse than Afghanistan and drain the lifeblood both militarily and economically from Russia.

@Nigissimo it is widely accepted that it takes at least 3 attackers to defeat 1 defender. Especially when the attacking army has completely failed in coordinating its military forces, has failed at logistics, has very low morale, and has suffered hundreds if not thousands of senior officers KIA and wounded. I have never known so many senior generals and colonels to be killed in any conflict in the last 50 years. Russia has failed miserably in its invasion of Ukraine. It is far from being a modern, advanced 21st-century army and is ok doing parades and fooling the Russian people buts its actual fighting ability right across all arms is woeful. If it was not for its massive dominance in Artillery Russia would have been very badly defeated months ago. Ukraine considering its only 1/3 the size of Russia is performing excellently in every sector of its armed forces.

@Nigissimo One-sided? So you support the illegal invasion by Russia of a sovereign nation? Thousands of innocent Ukrainians are being murdered while you come out with stupid comments. Going on with yourself over who is going to win. Russia is acting exactly the same as Nazi Germany in the 2nd world war. No difference and your so Zombified you think there 2 sides to the story. Russia is getting its arsed kicked and I am being dead serious. It should get out while it still can. My only fear is that Putin will do something stupid because he is losing so badly. He may be tempted to use tac Nukes, then we all die.

No good options. This is why we need ro go all out on renewable. A massive expansion of solar, wind and wave power. If nuclear is safe then more stations need to be built. Together with electric cars I am sure the west could now move away fro gas and oil. Going to be hard couple years but will be worth it.

@JoeRogan-DaveSmith2028 Crimea is Ukrainian. It does not matter what the ethnicity is. It was annexed by military force and a sham referendum was held. Ukraine has every right to take it back if that is possible. If Putin uses a Tac Nuke then he has lost anyway. Nato will destroy all Russian military forces in Ukraine and its black Sea fleet will no longer exist. It will lose the backing of China and Russia will break up into independent republics. This also means the death of Putin and his cronies. The best case scenario is for Putin and Russia to retreat back to their own borders, hand over war criminals, pay reparations to Ukraine, and say Sorry for the destruction and death it caused since 2014.
