  1. You ask was this a real Ukrainian victory? Ukraine was supposed to have been defeated in 3 days and here we are 7 months later and Ukraine has just taken back 9000 square k of occupied territory. Against the supposed 2nd largest military in the world. In fact, if we look at it objectivly and all things considered it's most probably up there as one of the most successful offensives since the 2nd world war. The Russian forces did not retreat they were routed. There's a big difference. You say Ukrainians suffered 40 percent casualties, these will be replaced by another 10 thousand UK-trained troops and any equipment lost has been more than replaced by the Russian equipment left during the route, enough to equip a division. Kherson seems to have been a feint in force. Why tell the Russians for nearly 4 months you were going to attack them in Kherson? Why not keep it top secret and take the Russian forces there by surprise? They were relatively weak before they were reinforced. Why wait before Kherson was actually reinforced by thousands of troops from the East? It only makes sense from the viewpoint of very skillful feint and deception. The Ukrainians seemed to have drawn these Russian forces from the East to both weaken the Donbas front and trap these forces in Kherson by destroying all the resupply routes and bridges. It makes no sense for Ukraine to wait for the Russians to reinforce the Kherson region and then attack across open fields and terrain. The forces in Kherson are being strangled with no way to fully resupply forces there. No need for Ukraine to go all out in an offensive that will cost thousands of lives when they can just suffocate the Russian forces. Without sufficient logistics, food and ammo, the Russian forces can not fight. The Ukrainians have effectively destroyed the speartip of the Russian professional army, what makes you think the 300,000 reservists can make any difference? Even if they could get to the frontline straight away how are they going to be effective with no training? Without proper equipment? What about winter gear? Russian logistics are being smashed every single day by Himars and another 18 have just been sent. As i write this Lyman is nearly completely surrounded which will lead to a complete collapse on that front, the 2nd Russian collapse of the Ukraine war. Russia has lost this war, without the shadow of a doubt. If they were able they would have finished the Ukrainians off 7 months ago that alone tells us Russia can not win this war. But we must all fear and consider Russia is a nuclear weapons power and I really do think if he and his military are threatened with total defeat he will use nukes. When/if he uses them all bets are off and we must then fear for this world and humanity. For what? It's surreal that we may all be killed because of a little fella with a big ego.
