@Orban Attila Russia is losing that's correct. Russia has lost between 135 and 200 thousand casualties, that's correct. Russia has lost 10 thousand armoured fighting vehicles and 3 thousand tanks, confirmed by Oryx, that's correct. Special military operation was scheduled to last 3 to 7 days but 13 months later Ukraine still fighting, that's correct. Russia has had to mobilise 300,000 troops indicating defeat of Russian professional army in first 6 months of this war, that's correct. Russia has not gained a single strategic objective in 13 months, that's correct. Russia is losing this war, that is correct and so it should. Anyone defending it needs to take a long hard look in the mirror. The Ukranian counter attack has assault troops holding up those mirrors. Get ready to look into them.

Bakhmut has no strategic importance. It is a very small town. Its only importance lay in the tens of thousands of Russians killed trying to take it. It has served its purpose for the Ukranians.

@SpiderWeb It does hold water. Go and look up Olga Romanova, the spokeswoman of the main prisoner rights group in Russia. She stated Wagner recruited 40 thousand prisoners. 35 thousand have been killed, wounded or missing. 5 thousand have returned to Russia. Wagner has suffered 60 to 70 percent casualties. You really do need to check your facts before you start bullshitting.

@Paulo Guerra It is sad. And Russia will pay. But Ukraine has held Bakhmut for 8 months. And it still holds. The commander is sickened beyond words at the loss of his men, but the bravery and fortitude of him and his men by holding Bakhmut for so long may win the war for Ukraine. They suffer so that Ukraine can build up its assault groups for its counter offensive. Every day it holds means more equipment delivered and more troops trained. The war crime is the invasion by Russia, not hero's defending their homes and families. We even have Russians placing the severed heads on pikes of those brave Ukranian defenders. Again, that will be avenged, but it saddens me that people like you defend the invasion, murder and destruction of the Ukranian people. When this is all over you will have a lot of soul searching to do when you realise you supported one of the most rabid, Nazi regimes since the National Socialists took power in Germany.

Wagner has had 60-70 percent casualties. Russian casualties have been at least 3 times higher than Ukranians. Attacking forces always suffer higher, killed, and wounded. The original leaked documents recently published stated Russia had lost 35 thousand killed. 100,000 wounded, missing, captured, which is a 3 to 1 ratio. Facts don't you just love them?

@Petr Zubets Ukraine has been using Bakhmut as a free fire zone for 8 months. That's its importance. Not its Geographical position. The Russians have concentrated their main forces at Bakhmut and have basically been throwing their forces to their death in human wave attacks. Any small town all along that front have the same qualities as Bakhmut. Russia and Wagner have suffered major losses here giving Ukraine time to build up it counter offensive. Everything points to Bakhmut being a major strategic mistake by Russia. And may have won the war for Ukraine.

@Veldtian1 Sorry m8 but the figures I have given in my comments is on the conservative side. It's highly likely that Russian casualties are much higher. Some figures put Russian casualties at more than 200,000. Although I have used the lower figures I think the higher ones are more likely.

@Its Guzzy It has about 10 thousand troops left. Yes it did have 50 thousand troops but 40 thousand were prisoners of which 35 thousand have been killed, wounded or captured and missing. See Olga Romanova. They are not my made-up figures. Now that Wagner can no longer recruit more prisoners it completely relies on support from the Regular Russian military.

LoL dream on. 200,000 ( minimum) Ukranian assault troops, trained and equipped by Nato are nearly ready to go. Soon the Russian rapists and invaders will be destroyed. Bakhmut has served its purpose has a killing ground for Russian cannon fodder for 8 months. You don't realize but by holding Bakhmut this long Ukraine has won this war.

@jarcher7768 The assault force has 200,000 to 400,000 soldiers ready to attack the Russians. The Ukrainians also have at least another 600,000 mobilized forces ready to replace any losses. The Ukrainians have 1 million men under arms because they mobilized from the very start of the war. Look at what Ukraine took back from Russia when they were a lot weaker than they are now..... Russia is doomed.

@HRC168 Those figures have been proven to be photoshopped fakes of the originals. Try again. Russia has suffered at least 35 thousand dead with 100,000 wounded, captured, or missing in action/Awol. So the leaked documents, the genuine ones, are confirming massive losses by the Russians. At least 3 to 4 times Ukranian casualties. That's a minimum of 135 thousand casualties. Also, look up Oryx who count Russian losses in equipment. 10 thousand armored vehicles and 3 thousand tanks have been counted and verified as being lost by Russian forces since the full scale invasion began. Facts don't you just love them.

@HRC168 The oldest released documents gave the true massive Russian casualty figures, it was only later released documents by the Russians that have been proven to be photoshopped to downplay Russian casualties but they lied too late. 35 thousand Russians dead and 100,000 wounded and missing.

@M Z Yes, Zelensky loses some influence if he loses while the Russians loses a good percentage of its best military forces. Very good trade off. Ukraine is not losing its elite forces at Bakhmut, its not encircled, but it is delaying the Ukranian counter offensive but don't worry its coming. Very soon.

@Petr Zubets Ukraine is defending. Its Russia that is sacrificing its best forces trying to take it. Attacking troops lose at least 3 troops for every 1 defending. This is normal, accepted military doctrine. But for most of the last 6 months, Russian casualties have been much higher than this at least 7 to 1. The leaked documents prove this. See Olga Romanova on Wagner prisoner casualties. Did you see the dog tags prighozin had in his hands. Everything I have seen confirms massive Russian loses at Bakhmut. They started attacking it about 6 months ago and it still holds. That says it all.

@pzubets Bakhmut has been falling for 8 months. Some prediction. Yes the Ukrainians are losing troops no one ever said they weren't but Russia are losing more at a rate of at least 3 to 1. This has just been confirmed in the American documents leaked recently. Ignore the Russian photoshopped ones. Massive Wagner losses have also been confirmed by Olga Romanova, the spokeswoman of the main Russian prisoner rights advocate group. She stated 40 thousand Prisoners were recruited by Wagner. 35 thousand have been killed, wounded, captured, and missing. 5 thousand have returned home. Your Australian friend is 100 percent correct. The core number of Wagner contract killers is about 10 thousand. They have been kept in the rear while Prisoners have been sent forward in Human wave attacks. History legends actually says this in the video but he words it in a formal military fashion to hide what it actually is, cannon fodder attacks. They only move forward after thousands of prisoners have been killed. So the casualties to the core Wagner fighters are most probably pretty low. That has been changing now that they can no longer recruit more prisoners. Wagner is now a very small cog in a mighty Russian machine (LOL) and will suffer casualties to its core fighters. Why do you think Prighozin has been up in arms over the lack of support by the Russian regular army? Because his core army of killers are now doing the fighting and dying. Wounded is normally 3 times that so it gives us total Russian casualties of 135 thousand. Wagner lost 35 thousand at Bakhmut alone, according to Olga Romanova the Russian prisoner rights spokeswoman. The Russian casualties are at least 3 times more than Ukraines. Not a Bot just stating the facts. Sorry if you don't like it.
