+Dusty Why is it tragic to hear that somebody else doesn't want the life you have? Why do you feel you have to shove everyone else into the same box as you? People are different. There's nothing tragic about that. If you feel that nobody could be happy unless they do as you do, then you're the one that should examine your motivations.

I'm on the other end of this, and I far prefer the very, VERY occasional regret I have about not having kids than the lifelong drudgery and misery of putting up with offspring I never wanted in the first place.

+Cassandra Well, good for you. You knew what you wanted and did so accordingly. That's just fine; you've no need to defend yourself. The issue is people who DON'T want that, and the constant pressure and nagging and downright rude bullying that comes from others who don't respect OUR wishes. Not everything is about you.

+Lena I think a necessary part of every kid's education should be to learn to examine their own motives and be very clear with themselves about whether they want children and especially WHY they want them, if they do. And then society should respect their wishes either way, and stop shoving at each other one way or the other. I suspect that if kids were taught such from the beginning, we'd have a lot less girls eager to reproduce than we do now, when they're indoctrinated by everything around them to think they ought to have kids whether they really want to or not.

Because they're defensive about their own selfishness, and want to project it onto others to make themselves feel better.

The sounds but not the language. We would be responding in gibberish.

Thank you, Chip, for being a standard bearer for REAL BOOKS.

Or you could have some humility and admit your way is YOUR way, and drop the arrogance.

We? Who's "we"? You made a comment, I replied to it. You said "illnesses". You never specified what kind of illness. It's very convenient how you suddenly decide to be specific after someone calls you out for saying something utterly fatuous.
1
Oh, you mean the illness that Dr. Attia is saying ISN'T a lifestyle illness? The one that's been misinterpreted as being the fault of the sufferer but may actually be genetic? That one? Yeah, try harder next time.

Well, if she had SAID THAT, I wouldn't have taken her meaning wrong. But SHE DIDN'T SAY THAT. There are tons of idiots running around claiming that lowering stress will cure all known diseases, Sparky. I saw nothing here to indicate that she wasn't one of them.

Wait, isn't it already known that diabetes can cause obesity? Or is it just that it's become an accepted idea since this video was made? (Six years ago now, so it could be.)
