  2. Sure. Anything to keep from actually acknowledging their existence, and their need for companionship. Just given 'em a robot and you won't have to think about them anymore. Don't spend any time with them, don't make any effort to actually ease their loneliness. After all, they're useless now, right? So yeah, toss 'em a toy. That'll solve the problem.
