It's been 30 years since a major one. People forget, and the younger generations either weren't around yet, or were too young to have any impression of what a big one is like.

Yeah, that was interesting. It was about 4 seconds. Not major at all, but certainly noticeable. I was in the '89 up in Santa Cruz, so this was no big deal. (No, it was not a San Francisco quake. The epicenter was Los Gatos, about 3 miles outside Santa Cruz.)

It's not nothing. It's enough to feel it, which is what freaks everyone out. Most people think feeling anything at all means the ground is about to open up under them.

@AgainstBEGGARS A 4.4 quake cannot be a mega quake by definition. Stop praying for what you don't want.
