If you'd like to drive cinemas out of business, by all means don't buy the popcorn.  Theaters make the MAJORITY of their money off the snacks, because over 90 PERCENT of their earnings go to the movie studios.  But hey, who cares, right?  They should run at a loss just so you can eat really really cheap food.
