  23. What are you talking about? The Silmarillion is NOT on the table for filming, and it may well never be. We can have The Hobbit and LOTR, and THAT'S ALL. They're the only Tolkien works that the rights were sold from, and Christopher Tolkien has no intention of ever allowing any other adaptations.

That no one else can ever try to make another version because somehow the Jackson version is perfect (despite the fact that they have tons of complaints about it) and no one could ever improve on it - as if it were a contest. Personally, I'd like to see MANY more adaptations from different filmmakers with different visions. Why should Tolkien be treated any differently than any other author with a classic tale?

  42. Um, I'm a little puzzled at how this video accuses these films of having formulaic plots as if that isn't exactly what the TV shows had. Let's face it, none of these TV shows were genius theater. They were shows of their time, and that makes them seem better in memory than they actually were. Go back and watch them now, and you'll see. The films may suck (and I don't agree they all do), but the shows really weren't that much better.

  48. Kind of amazing when you take into account that it's probably the least impressive dance in the list. The choreography itself is really simple - pretty much anyone who can dance can learn it. (Gene Kelly himself said it was one of the simplest things he'd ever performed in films.) It's just that the song and the setting, along with the wonderful emotion Kelly put into it, made it unforgettable! (It's my favorite by far, despite its elementary choreography.)
