  2. +cheesecake134 You say that as if Texan people can automatically do Southern accents. They're not the same thing, dude. Like Mexico, Texas is in a category by itself - it's not West, but it's not South, either. Of all the supposed "Southern" categories I've heard, Texans are actually the worst at imitating other "Southern" accents.

Johnya Morgan True about Leigh, but that was deliberate.  Remember that she was playing a woman from the 1860's.  Southern accents were much closer to British then than they are now.  Leigh split the difference and came up with something that historians say is fairly close to what Scarlett would have sounded like.  It was Howard and Butler who were way off the mark, one completely British and the other not even trying to sound Southern at all.
