Should we be so lucky as to wrest the country away from him, I do look forward to the raging and the shrieking and the whining, the Twitter tantrums and the flaccid insults and the bizarre rambling paranoia.   3. Were we always so whiny and spoiled, and I just didn't notice? Or is this something relatively new? I could swear people in general were nowhere near this pissy and self-centered when it came to things like public health when I was a kid. Quarantining for a number of diseases was common back then, and I don't remember anyone kicking against the idea. Who'd want to be the asshole who was infecting people? If a doctor said you had this disease and you had to stay home, you bloody well stayed home. I think that's the problem - my generation was really the last one that had to deal with the ravages of preventable diseases as a common thing, so people don't take the idea nearly as seriously as they should. It's like those anti-vax idiots - they've never seen anyone in an iron lung so they think they can do without a polio shot. * HEADDESK *

  5. Here's a fun fact: the virus has been found in the water at the beaches. So no, going in the ocean ain't gonna be safe either. I just gotta wonder when Americans became so spoiled and bratty that they can't take more than a couple of weeks of behaving themselves before they start chewing the walls and throwing dangerous tantrums.

"Oh, they look healthy, they'll be fine" - completely ignoring all the young, healthy people that are struggling for their lives right now because THEY believed that horseshit, too. I wonder when people will understand that they CANNOT SEE a disease on the cellular level? The whole point of this thing getting so bad is that we CANNOT SEE IT. But no - convenience is King, the "right to party" is more important than people's lives, and sneering is all some people can do when confronted with evidence of their own fucked-up selfishness.
