No, it's not mental illness. It's BRAINWASHING. A completely different thing. There was nothing wrong with his mind - it had just become infested with anger because he was only LISTENING to angry voices. As soon as the voices were taken away from him, he stopped being angry. That would not have been possible if he was actually mentally ill.

Please stop blaming the efficacy of propaganda on the victim's supposed mental state. You're only trying to prop up your (very mistaken) belief that YOU would never fall prey to this kind of thing. That, my dear, is an attitude almost guaranteed to make you wide open and vulnerable to the very thing you think isn't going to get you. ANYONE can be caught by brainwashing - it only takes the right moment and the right life circumstances. So unless you're professing to some kind of psychic ability, blaming the victim only shows us YOUR mental state, not the victim's.

@forevergoddessqueen4404 Because brainwashing is not one size fits all - it depends on YOU. On YOUR life, on YOUR circumstances at the moment. A person who isn't vulnerable at that moment isn't going to fall prey to it, but that doesn't mean they might not fall prey at some other time in their lives.
