  1. We are a disgusting, selfish, brutal species. It takes an almost superhuman effort to rise above that ugly DNA, to be MORE than human. And one of the main things it takes is a clear-eyed acceptance of the fact that a large number of us, maybe a majority, will never make that effort, and always be those disgusting, selfish, brutal ape descendants who have no interest in ever being more than their genetic fate decrees.
