  1. Let's say it this way. Volvo's 5-cylinder diesels have a very distintive noise which to most people sounds great, to some disturbing. Probably the D5 (215hp) is the loudest whereas the D3/D4 with 2.0 litre run smoother. But this 1.6 D2 is very quiet especially inside the cabin. It runs quiter and smotther than recent Audi or BMW diesel engines.
