Frankly I think it undermines the work's integrity as an unbiased source for historical information as it tows an agenda that forces a subtextual narrative that has nothing to do with the topic at hand. It uses what should be a resource for all to learn by, into a political weapon. And this undermines the very purpose of studying history to see beyond one's own current situation and be able to think for oneself.

Not really appreciating injections of modern politics into a video that is supposed to be an presentation of history. It sours the reliability as of it as a source of knowledge.

To my brother in Christ who replied to that person saying bluntly that the Lord shall punish them. I will not give a name since if you see this, I believe you shall I am addressing you and others need not know of it. We are called to bring the Good News to people in Truth and Love and to love God with all of our heart, mind, and spirit, and for Love of God, to love our neighbor as ourselves. We are called to love our enemies, and pray for those who persecute us. What I am trying to say my brother in Christ is, Do you really believe this kind of simplistic and blunt approach that can easily be mistaken as coming from a place of either superiority or hatred of the sinner rather than the sin, is going to fulfill our call to be Christ hands and feet on earth or prepare the way of the Lord by tilling the fields for the Seeds of the Spirit? @Cogfather My biases are mostly too bizarre and convoluted for me to make sense of. Beside if it is a bias and I can reliably identify it, I must grind it down as it comes as an obstacle to me knowing the truth and determining first things. I reject relativism regarding truth. It does not matter if it is hard, it is worth the struggle to remove as many distortions as possible in one's vision of the world. Even moreso if others do not as it becomes both an exclusive handle-up and demonstrates the benefit of the stance by merely putting it into practice. And if I am being frank, to not try is just stunting oneself and being lazy.

Ah I see, so this is a political piece to reinforce one current party's narrative about the other and reinforce political tribalism lines. With some convenient bits of history about wicked men to allow the political opposition to stand in as a subtextual expy for and so to justify preextant stereotypes and preconceptions regarding the other party as a means to justify escalating opposition and dehumanization of them as they do it turn to members of the party this work is in service to.

You are only proving my point that it is political tribalism and forces everything to be filtered through the lens of the conflict and the 'us good, them bad' and needing to win the posturing game at all costs. This then leading to the spiral of demonizing, stereotyping and dehumanizing the other tribe because while 'they are doing it so we need to counter or else they look better'. When the truth is really it doesn't matter because both sides are in their echo chambers and are just impressing themselves about how great they are compared to the other and fueling the blood feud more. The political identities act as modern opposing idols that hate each other and demand absolute fealty and sacrifice tearing apart anything that dare attempt to suggest that maybe something else matters more here.

@4:16 these are not necessarily mutually exclusive if one accounts for the potential for complexity and unforeseen patterning that was simply unknown at that time owing to lack of the necessary technology. All I am trying to say is, let us not propogate discrimination based upon belief.

@Suns-e4y It adds no context or historical value, it is mostly just an unnecessary referential acting as a gateway for inserting a stance on a currently controversial and active political situation. It is something that will become dated and is a product of this moment rather than an objective detached look at history. I thought it was inappropriate for this kind of work.

There is plenty of talk everywhere about that, there is no need to undermine an objective view of history for a passing political situation. These kinds of conflicts happen periodically throughout both past civilizations and this country. This situation is not so unique as to justify manipulation of our vision of the past to achieve it. Besides, if it needs to borrow something like this topic as a carrier signal to be heard, maybe it just is not worth considering and is just yet another fabricated crisis spawned from the overhyped partisan echo chambers,

@buivars It isn't but yes it could, but it will never come in a way anyone expects. Everyone thinks they would never be with the ones doing atrocities. But charismatic manipulative leaders know how to make those committing evil to thinking they are doing good and they and those like them are heroes and all those exceptions to normal humane treatment, well they are okay if we do them, but if they do them, well there is just proof they are evil and worthy of our exceptions to humane treatment. If someone is putting a play in a cave on for you, make sure to look around and behind you to see what is around the cave and take a look entirely outside the cave and see past the narrative your being fed.

@bthsr7113 It isn't a matter of doing any of that. It is a matter of uprooting bias of all kind. Otherwise you just become the very thing you are fighting against and commit your own wrongs. It makes the problem worse. So no becoming bias to fight bias only leads to worse bias and undermines one's own position and makes the other side entrench itself. It only ensures the divide and its stagnation by refusing even reasonable interaction, not any real progress. It is a matter of bearing the cross when things get hard, not becoming part of the problem. So no, being objective has worked and the truth is worth more than any victory in a passing conflict. Neutrality has certainly had a better track record than the proposed alternative. All that will lead to is avoidable blood being shed from people being stubborn and not realizing both sides are just people and that our mutual humanity matters more than these passing political paradigms.

Or alternatively, just accept that not everyone will agree with one's worldview or see eye to eye with it and some will oppose it. But this can and ought to be bounded in mutual decency. Or if one thinks that others ought to bleed and be slain because they disagree with one's side, welcome to totalitarianism, despots, and atrocities.

@maxgustafsson7802 No I am not so coyed into thinking everything people do ought to be derived from partisan tribalism. The division is the problem and half of this would be avoided if people simply remembered our mutual humanity and exercised mutual decency and respect and did not bow down before their political ideology as though it were an idol. And there is a difference between celebrating settled cultural progress and objective moral victories, and poisoning this with current controversy that has not been settled. It is an insult to the former. It is weaponizing the past to try to borrow its glory, but only tarnishes something formerly held as above such pettiness and tarnishes it in the process for a grab at political clout. The time for such things is after the battle not during it. I do not only call out people on the left for that, I do so for people on the right as well. People generally always get angry, but I am fine with that as it is expected when one is working against the tide to meet resistance. And it is much preferable to being a part of the problem.

@maxgustafsson7802 Politics is not my god. Stop worshipping it. The problem is people being so wrapped up in their politics that it becomes their identity and life and has been leading to violence, demonizing, undermining the country as a whole and breaking our common culture while bringing the efforts of both sides avoidably to futility. I like things in both parties and disagree with things in both parties. And I celebrate the good in both and denounce the evil in both. Neither is frankly a good choice right now but I choose based on my best prudence, not an arbitrarily drawn line in the political spectrum. The problem is both sides losing sight of the very reason to fight for rights in the process of pursuing their goals and how it breaks everything it touches. Regardless of the issues, it is how it undermines the dignity of the opposing side that has consistently been a curse over this political paradigm right and left both. The very fact that you can not see past your own party's campaign and see others value through it as the lens is exactly the issue. People are idolizing their side as though nothing else matters and creating worse situations in the process. Again it is a matter of refusing to see the common humanity in each other's sides and not exercising common decency and respect and allowing political parties to become like gods to people, demanding all be sacrificed to them and all else be destroyed if it does not bow to them. Stop watching the shadow puppets on the wall and take a walk outside the cave.

@maxgustafsson7802 I don't expect people to not fight their fight, I do expect them to treat one another well regardless. People's reasons why do not matter, that they do not act with decency and respect or at least basic humanity is the problem and there is no excuse for it. We have done better and so we can do better, so it is not wrong to demand better.

There is nothing new to be learned it is easily predictable how people will talk and what they will say on both sides of the aisle, it is just more of the same just different paint jobs and more total in their demands at adherance. People are cutting too deeply at the roots of the tree in an effort to remove the branches they don't want and the entire tree will die and their branches along with it. But maybe the cycle of empires is unavoidably a part of human civilization, a renewal process or something. Either both sides need to agree to some kind of truce, or it is going to destroy the country in time. But then, that is what both parties have in common right now no? To concede at all, and so by proxy, to reconcile is their chief unforgivable sin. Am I wrong?

@maxgustafsson7802 I am aware of contemporary issues, but I am also aware it is the same status quo. I don't let it rule me, and I set boundaries on it. But see that absolute dismissal of anyone who is not actively doing what you are doing, is part of the problem. Scale it up, people are sawing the trunk of the tree they are sitting on. There is nothing new to be learned it is easily predictable how people will talk and what they will say on both sides of the aisle, it is just more of the same just different paint jobs and more total in their demands at adherence. Either both sides need to agree to some kind of rules of engagement or it is going to lead to everything being lost But, that is what both parties have in common right now no? @maxgustafsson7802 Political platforms are complex and not simple in form, they have parts, so can be simultaneously right in parts and wrong in other parts. They are not infallible since we humans are all fallible and they come from human societies. Therefore they ought to be questioned, examined, and their merits and harms weighted and not blindly followed. There is to me no right party in this period we are in. You will of course say that what your chosen party is saying is the only right stance. But that is an easily poisoned well with you just using your party line as the judging moral standard. As I hope we can agree, it is that very dual claim of moral impeccability to allow demands of unquestioning allegiance and judgement that I am challenging.

I do too many online debates I think I let myself autopilot over things, and that is wrong of me. Sorry for not giving you the respect to know what you were saying rightly.

One side seeks to go against Him and the other rather than acting as Christ tells us to, answered evil for evil and uses His Name for not just good moral ends, but to justify actual hate and dismiss real grievances along with the ones that must be opposed. This pushes the other side farther into their errors and opposing and retaliating against Christians at large and the entire thing has leaked into the life of the Church itself and lead to schism, calumny, heresy and general pride and self-reliance over reliance and trust in God. This along with the rest of what I said is why I can not abide in either. One is advocating for evil and the other has answered with evil in kind. I'm not saying I don't vote. I just don't make it my god.

I am not even saying I do not have a side I think is right. My point is simply to keep politics to the level it belongs. Half the reason we have such extremes right now is the no holds bar, victory at all costs attitude leading to escalation by means of an invoked ideological arms race. Had people not been so this way earlier on we could have avoided this entire situation. If I had revealed my leaning to begin with then I would have lost any chance of at least one side even considering anything I said. This method open a unique conduit to attempt dialogue to make deeper in-roads towards. From here it may be possible to actually address issues and de-escalate as necessary to lead to real truth being considered and not dismissed at the gate. The opposition does need to be had there are intrinsic evils being promoted as goods, but doing as we have, has escalated not fixed the situation. But it does seem people are beginning to get it right. Thanks be to God. The breach of basic morality is bearing more and more of its rotten fruit, showing itself for what it really is. And again, this whole thing I am doing is also a cry to avoid the real potential for physical conflict sprouting up.
