  1.  @NickoTyn  Keep in mind our body has several genetic repair systems, cell killing (via apotosis or less happily necrosis if from external or toxic conditions) and senesing (suppressed replication) systems and other safeguards including the immune system against such an occurance, so one cosmic ray is not likely to be a death knell unless you get really really unlucky. Of course out in space there are many more damaging events and we evolved to deal with Earth not space.

  3. The difference here is between objective and subjective. The coin flip is the object and Sleeping Beauty or her model equivalent is the subject. As object is as it is regardless of subject for such an event, one ought to take the probability for the object and not the subject since the subject's state is contingent on the outcome of the object. Since the object is causally upstream of the subject, it is the load-bearing event for the overall dynamic in question. The resultant outcome is a contingently dependent but different action. Therefore it is 1/2.
