  1. Tatars came from the east with Mongol invasion. Prior to that the term "tatars" did not exist. The predecessors of Volga tribes are indoeuropeans and uralic people, not Turks from western Mongolia. So, no, "Turkic" language is secondary for the majority of Volga tribes.
